Upcoming Foreclosures

What is happening to the Church system financially?

"Foreclosures and delinquencies for congregations are rising, according to companies that specialize in church mortgages." "Congregants have less money to give, and pastors who stretched to buy property in the boom are struggling to hold onto their churches." Source: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090314/ap_on_bi_ge/rel_banking_on_faith It is now being considered that an individuals contribution to a religion being tax deductible is an indirect way of the government funding the Religion. When the government disallows the individuals contributions to a religion as being tax deductible and loans dry up will more Churches be closing their doors?

  1. Well looks like the LDS church has been prepared
  2. in my opinion is about the lack of vocations, less priests (or pastor, vicars etc..) means that less people convert to Christianity and therefore less Churches are needed. Churches will close down, it has started already and it will progress, the goverment is trying to help but it is not about tax contribution it is about faith. My parish has announced that in summer they will condense all Sunday masses into one because there not enough people to justify all the services, like the credit crunch also Christianity is on a downward spiral.
  3. I hope they are so deep in the red they will never get out, all except the Salvation Army.
