Upcoming Foreclosures

Where can I search for cheap homes in Michigan?

I live in the Oakland County area. I've looked at different sites and the decent houses are usually over $100K. When I tried to look at foreclosure listings sites, they ask for money. Anyone know of any websites (or contacts) where I can find cheap homes? Thanks.

  1. Try Detroit or Dearborn areas. There will be a huge amount of homes for sale real soon.
  2. Keep in mind that when looking for foreclosure properties, some companies will actually be marketing Pre-foreclosures. These are homes that may have only received a notice of default from their lender(s) and may actually never become foreclosures. This public website contains most homes for sale in metro Detroit and is updated nightly. http://MoveInMchigan.com (this is not my website) Foreclosures on this site have completed the entire redemption period and are offered for sale by banks. Short Sale and transfered owner homes are also available, frequently requiring less work because they are occupied and heated. Just a suggestion, when getting pre-approved for a mortgage, make sure you inform your lender that you are thinking about purchasing a foreclosure or property that may require repairs to meet occupancy codes. Some properties not meeting Freddie Mac lending guidelines have very limited options for loans. Best to know ahead of time. Starting in January, most FHA loan products will require 3.5 percent downpayment. If you have any specific questions you can contact me anonymously through Yahoo answers. There is also a big tax auction coming up for Oakland County in February, I'm not sure where you would get additional information or if this would be safe, so check it out thoroughly before trying to purchase this type of property.
