Upcoming Foreclosures

deed in lieu - how long after giving to lender does the owner have to move?

Working on ebook about foreclosure, I want to give as much detail as I can about the process. If you set up a Deed In Lieu for the lender as the borrower, how long do you have to get out of the property? Or is that part of the negotiation process when you set up the 'Deed I L"?? Hope that explains what I'm looking for!

  1. This is all set up during the negotiations. In theory the owner is no longer allowed on the premises without consent of the new owner. This takes place as soon as title (by way of deed) is transfered. The only way the original owner will be allowed to remain on the premises is by way of contractual contingency. In most cases it is negotiated to be around one week, but this is by no means a standard.
