What is a Supplementary Real Property Tax and can it be tax dedcutible?

I have a friend who asked me..."Can I deduct in my tax return the Supplementary Property Tax payments I made last year?"

  1. Supplemental Real Property Taxes are typically special taxes that your local government assesses on a one time basis to pay for something, like putting in new sewers, etc. Since this is taxes on real property and the tax amount is based on the assessed value of your property, it is tax deductible on Schedule A.
